A Comprehensive Guide to Setting Up and Customizing TextChat for Your Storefront

TextChat is a dynamic customer service tool designed to enhance customer retention and engagement for your online store. It serves as a dual-purpose widget, enabling direct communication with customers and facilitating the collection of customer data and consent for SMS marketing.

Getting Started with TextChat

Note: Configuration changes may take up to an hour to reflect on your web storefront.

Step 1: Design Your TextChat Widget

Preview: Use the interactive preview to see what the TextChat widget looks like before testing it live on your site.

  • Banner Text: This text appears at the top of the widget and sets the tone for customer interaction.
  • Message Text: Located below the banner, this text guides customers on what actions to take or what to expect next.
  • SMS Marketing Opt-in Checkbox: Positioned under the input fields, this checkbox allows customers to opt into your SMS marketing messages.

  • Callout Message: Craft a message that encourages customers to reach out with any inquiries.
  • Automatic Callout Display: Set a timer for when the callout message should appear to the customer.
  • Callout Image: Add a visual element, like a representative’s avatar or your brand logo, next to the callout message.

  • Theme Color: Customize the color scheme of your widget, affecting the button, banner, message bubble, and send button.
  • Website Placement: Decide whether to position the widget at the bottom left or right corner of your storefront. Consider the placement of other widgets, like a Rewards widget, to ensure a cohesive layout.

  • Assign tags to messages sent via the TextChat widget to categorize customer inquiries and streamline response management. Customers can select multiple tags to specify their question type.

Manage Terms & Conditions Copy:

By default Patch provides generic Terms & Conditions pre-poulated with your business information. To update the copy type into the text area.

Step 2: Installing TextChat on Your Storefront

Installation Settings:

  • TextChat is integrated through the Patch Pixel. Manually add the Pixel script tag to your storefront’s code for activation.

Manual Installation:

  • To manually install the widget, please add this code to the <head> of your page only one time regardless of how many Patch products you utilize.
